Using PICO 4 headsets for Business

Some VR arena owners believe that when purchasing new VR headsets for business use with a franchise that is available for both Pico 4 and Meta Quest 2 simultaneously, it’s best to focus on the Pico 4.

The primary and most significant advantage of Meta Quest 2, according to users, is the availability of a much larger list of games from Facebook (Meta). However, if you are using your VR headsets specifically for business purposes, this advantage may not be particularly relevant.

Let’s, on the contrary, consider the advantages of PICO 4 for business.

Compared to Meta Quest 2, PICO 4 is a newer model, released in October 2022. In terms of processing power, they both use the same Qualcomm XR2 chip.

  • The main and primary advantage of PICO 4 is that it has two LCD panels, providing a per-eye resolution of 2160 by 2160, which is an improvement over Quest 2. The Meta Quest 2 has a single LCD panel with a resolution of 3664 by 1920, resulting in a per-eye resolution of 1832 by 1920.

  • Despite the fact that the Meta Quest 2 has a higher refresh rate of 120 Hz compared to PICO 4’s 90 Hz refresh rate, the horizontal field of view (FOV) comparison is considered more critical. The natural horizontal FOV of the human eye is 135°, and Pico 4 is much closer to this figure with its 105°, as opposed to only 90° for the Meta Quest 2.

  • The Meta Quest 2 has a three-stage Interpupillary Distance (IPD) adjustment with settings at 58, 64, and 66 mm, whereas the Pico 4 offers a stepless motor IPD adjustment ranging from 62 to 72 mm.

  • The base battery option for the Meta Quest 2 is 3640 milliampere-hours, while the Pico 4 boasts 5300 milliampere-hours. This means it has 30% more battery capacity, which is vital for all-day business use.
